About me.

I decided in 7th grade, that I wanted to be a doctor.  The human body has always fascinated me. I love working as a Naturopathic Doctor because I get to dive deep in to medical mysteries and guide my patients on their journey to health. There is nothing more satisfying than finding that aha moment in their unique health story, that unlocks the key to their path to wellness.

After completing my medical school pre-requisites from Whitman College, I was a Medical Assistant at a private OBGYN office in my hometown. I then moved to Portland and worked with a bilingual Gastroenterologist. Although my training at The National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) was in primary care, those previous experiences drove my passion for Women’s Health and Gastroenterology. While in school at NUNM I was on many women’s-health focused shifts as well as the Gastroenterology mentor shift.

After I graduated from NUNM in Portland, OR with a Naturopathic Doctorate, I earned a competitive private residency at Today Integrative Health.  I was fortunate, during my residency, to have another mentor Dr Heidi Peterson, with whom I continue to work with closely.

Having suffered with my own health issues through medical school and residency, I dedicate myself to helping those with similar mystery symptoms. Symptoms that the conventional medical model cannot figure out. My ideal patient is someone who has been struggling for years without many answers, and is ready and willing to put in the work necessary to transform their health through diet and lifestyle changes.

I serve as a Naturopathic Specialist to my new patients, not as a primary care doctor. This allows me to spend more time with patients discussing symptoms, and less time on screening physicals and checklists.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, attending concerts, and working out with my husband; spending time with family (especially my niece and nephews), discovering delicious recipes, as well as getting out to explore nature.

I am so excited to work with you,

Dr Susana Watson
